Dog therapy at Amora Care

Dog Therapy

What is dog therapy and how can it benefit me?

Dog therapy has many benefits for older adults, besides being a lot of fun. For example, research indicates that pet therapy releases endorphins and can reduce stress levels, anxiety, pain, fatigue and isolation.

It helps create a sense of tranquillity and well-being which have immense benefits, particularly for those at risk of loneliness.

At Amora Care, we are committed to providing the very best in home care. As part of our premium service, we can include pet therapy visits on your schedule, which is a particularly great option for people who love pets but cannot care for one anymore.

Meet our therapy dog, Snoop

Meet our therapy puppy: Snoop

Snoop is a fully certified therapy dog, with a kind and gentle soul. His favourite things are lounging in comfortable chairs, being stroked and playing at the beach!

When you arrange a care package with us, we will ask if you would like to receive a visit from Snoop from time to time. We can add that to your schedule of visits and at no extra cost you can reap all the benefits that reintroducing a pet to your life would have.

How does dog therapy work?

If you would like the occasional visit from Snoop, we will conduct a therapy dog risk assessment in your home to ensure all his visits will be safe for you.

Once that is cleared, one of our team will bring Snoop around at a suitable time for a relaxed visit, ranging from a gentle pat session on a chair to a nice walk around the park.

Our objective is to reduce loneliness and encourage a more active lifestyle wherever possible. So this is an excellent opportunity to schedule a gentle walk to exercise your muscles while having a friendly chat and the occasional cuddle with Snoop!

What next?

Now is the perfect time to schedule your free assessment. During this informal visit, a member of our team will come to your home, meet with you and your family, and begin creating a personalized care plan that will help you maintain your independence and live comfortably at home.
